Tango King 2026 Juho Punkeri is coming to Helsinki! 👑

Tango King Juho Punkeri, crowned in July 2026, and Finnish piano art legend Risto Lauriala will hold a joint concert "The Most Beautiful Christmas Melodies" in the atmospheric Huopalahti Church on Saturday, 12.12.2026 at 4 pm.

In addition to timelessly beautiful Christmas carols, the concert will feature a few tangos and classical music. The Tango King will also showcase his violin skills at the concert. The Christmas concert is the Tango King's first concert in Helsinki, promising a wonderfully charming December afternoon.

Tango King Juho Punkeri is a highly trained professional singer, cantor of the Hämeenlinna-Vanaja parish, choir conductor, singing teacher, and a skilled violinist. Punkeri graduated from the Sibelius Academy with master's degrees in church music and opera training, and he has become known as a versatile tenor, especially as an interpreter of opera, early music, and lieder.

He has performed as a soloist both in Finland and abroad and has won, among others, the national Helsinki Lied competition. With the kingship, Punkeri performs intensively across Finland both at dance hall concerts and other types of concerts.

At the concert, the pianist will be Risto Lauriala, who received the Finnish Cultural Foundation's Elias Lönnrot Medal of Honor for his life's work in spring 2026. Lauriala has performed not only on international concert stages and all concert venues in Finland but also numerous times over the decades at Huopalahti Church with solo concerts and chamber music concerts alongside cello professor Marko Ylönen and violinist Tero Latvala.
