About possible cancellations
If a participant has to cancel their course participation before the end of the registration period, the course fee will be refunded, except for the processing fee of €4.50.
If a participant has to cancel their course participation after the last registration day (regardless of the reason, e.g. illness), the course fee will not be refunded. The exception is a situation where the organizer can take someone from the queue to replace them or the participant finds someone else to replace them.
If the course has to be canceled on behalf of the organizer, e.g. due to a low number of participants, the course fee and processing fees will be refunded in full to the participant.

TO WHOM
Professionals, students and advanced amateurs in the wide field of performing arts; performers, directors, teachers, lecturers etc. No previous mask experience is necessary. The course is also a particularly recommended foundation for those who plan to participate in other Teatteri Metamorfoosi courses. (e.g. in clowning, working with a neutral mask helps the performer better understand what their own ridiculousness might be.)
DESCRIPTION
In the workshop, physical theater exercises originating from the French Lecoq pedagogy are carried out, the purpose of which is to awaken the performer's body and spatial awareness. The most important work tool of the course is a neutral mask, with which you work in a pre-dramatic state and without words. The neutral mask helps the performer become aware of his own movement quality and makes parasitic movements and mannerisms visible.
High-quality Sartori neutral masks are used in the classes.
TEACHER
Soile Mäkelä approaches theater from a physical point of view, and her teaching is strongly based on the French Lecoq pedagogy.
Mäkelä lost her soul to masks already in 1996, while studying at the Metropolia, Helsinki University of Applied Sciences. After that, she applied to study physical theater according to Lecoq pedagogy in Paris and Padua. Mäkelä completed her pedagogic studies at the University of the Arts Helsinki, Theatre Academy 2004-2008. In addition to this, numerous study trips to France, Italy and Switzerland have supplemented her knowledge in the field of physical theatre. In 2005, Soile founded Teatteri Metamorfoosi together with Davide Giovanzana and Laura Mäkelä.
Being an artist and being a teacher go hand in hand in Mäkelä's professional identity. During almost thirty years as an artist, she has taught physical theater for twenty years.
