Finnish electronic music pioneer and internationally acclaimed artist Proteus will release his new album on December 20, 2025. The release will be celebrated with a massive rave at Helsinki’s Kaapelitehdas that same night, where Proteus will perform a unique album release show and a DJ set honoring his iconic Hard NRG mixes.

Proteus – real name Harri Vilkas Andersson – ended his 27-year career as a DJ and artist in December 2022 with a sold-out farewell show at Kaapelitehdas. Although health reasons forced him to stop active touring, he has continued to create music and will return to the stage once more with his new album – exactly three years after his farewell performance. Before his retirement, Andersson toured extensively around the world and became known for his raw intensive and ferocious, high-energy live shows.

Proteus made history in 2004 and 2005, when he was voted onto the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 list as the first Finn ever, alongside Darude. In those same years, he was awarded Best Harder Dance DJ in the World at the UK’s Hard Dance Awards. The new album fuses his signature dark, anarchistic mix of hard dance, trance, and industrial with fresh new sounds, taking listeners on a powerful, no-compromise journey deep into the core of electronic music.

This isn’t a comeback — I can’t return to touring — but Kaapelitehdas is the perfect place to celebrate the album and honor the farewell show three years ago. It’s been the stage for so many milestones in Finnish rave culture.
